Getting started

What is Ground Control?

Ground Control is a remote client for Claude Code, which you run on your own Mac. It lets you read, reply to, and watch your coding sessions from your iPhone or a desktop — with a live terminal, alerts, usage tracking, and voice dictation.

Do I need anything else?

Yes — you bring your own Claude Code running on your Mac. Ground Control connects to it over your own private network. The companion desktop app is included free.

Just want to look first?

Open the app and tap "Explore the demo — no Mac needed" on the connect screen to try every screen with sample data.

Common questions

The app can't reach my Mac.

Make sure your Mac is on, the Ground Control server is running, and both devices are on the same private network (e.g. Tailscale). Paste the address that ends in .ts.net on the connect screen.

Why does it ask for the microphone?

Only for the optional dictation feature — recording a spoken message to send to a session. Nothing is recorded unless you tap the mic.

How do I get the free desktop app?

The connect screen in the iPhone app has a "Mac app — copy download link" button.
